Well the shocks look like they have seen better days. Here is a picture of the circa 1978 front and rear shocks:
The front suspension employs two shocks one in front of the coil spring and another behind it:

The rear uses just one standard truck shock per side:

Notice I treated all of the shocks to a coat of spray undercoating. I installed Monroe shocks that where painted yellow and I didn't want them to look like rotten bananas once they started rusting.
